Vallehermoso is the Chamberí that best combines neighbourhood life with major amenities. Its heart is the Vallehermoso Market (1930), reborn as one of Madrid's most authentic gastronomic markets, where traditional stalls coexist with kitchens from around the world.
The neighbourhood borders the Canal de Isabel II complex: Navarro Baldeweg's Teatros del Canal, the exhibition hall in the 1907 elevated water tank and the great sports park above the Tercer Depósito, an oasis of racquet sports, golf and pools in the middle of the city.
Its streets mix classic buildings and 1950s-70s blocks with recent renovations, at somewhat gentler prices than eastern Chamberí and with metro lines 2 and 7 at street level.
